Today we’d like to introduce you to April Gorby.

Hi April, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up in the beauty industry I have always found every aspect of it to be fascinating. As a little girl I spent Saturdays in the salon with my mom and her team of beauty experts helping, playing and essentially molding me to be the caring and hard-working woman I am today. After spending over 16 years in the medical field working and growing someone else’s business, I decided it was time to finally venture off and grow a business of my own in the industry that I have always loved. Starting over during Covid was a scary time, but it completely changed my life allowing me the flexibility to be with my family and own my small business, providing skincare and confidence to Gilbert and all across the US.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been an easy route, but building your own business is something to take pride in, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Starting over at 40, with a husband, a son and a special-needs foster daughter definitely came with some challenges and struggles. When I graduated school, I started looking into applying for positions and realized that my unique situation would not be a great fit in a typical business. But being my own boss, allowed me the flexibility to be at home with my family, available for doctors appointments and therapy sessions, and even have dinner and tuck my kids in every night. Being a busy mom myself, I offer evening appointments, which caters to other busy moms in the area, enabling them to still take some much needed self care time at the end of a busy day. It’s really a win/win situation.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Licensed Esthetician and Laser Technician in the state of Arizona. I specialized in aging skin concerns, peri-menopausal/menopausal skin, as well as Acne and sensitive skin types. I also provide Laser Hair reduction, advanced skin treatments, such as microneedling and peels; and skin irregularity treatments, such as skin tags and small texture bumps. I also independently contract with NALA Institute in Scottsdale, performing laser treatments, body treatments and Hydro-facials. I am the go-to person when it comes to aging skin changes.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
YOU are the only one that can hold YOU back, if you believe in yourself, work hard and always follow your heart; you will succeed.
