Check Out Ana Avelino’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Avelino.

Hi Ana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Hello, my name is Ana Avelino, I was born in Agua Prieta Sonora, Mexico in 1993 and raised in Chandler Az since 2002. I fell in love with my HS Sweetheart and left to be an Army wife.

Arizona has always been our home, my husband was Honorably Discharge in 2015, we moved back to Chandler and with the help of my Madre, I started my journey in making sweets for my family and eventually for friends.

I’ve held a couple of jobs as a cake decorator and fell in love with the art of it. I saw a big future for me in cake decorating and baking. Pastry has been part of my family for generations and became a Goal of mine to continue.

During the begging of the pandemic, I had my 4th child and became very ill, I cannot sit, stand, or walk for long or at all at times. It has been 2 tough years since I was diagnosed with chronic illness due to two bulging discs on my lower spine.

I told myself at my lowest, I could not give up and it was making sweets that brought light to my life. I created CKC Sweets to help me through this hard time in my life, it may take me twice as long to make a cake than before my illness, but I knew I could do it.

Seeing someone’s smile once they receive their Sweets makes my day and inspires me to do more.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a great learning journey, from learning from my Madre Socorro Miranda and my Tia Leticia Miranda in watching them as a child to now being able to work side by side.

During my journey, I started smooth learning from jobs like Walmart as a cake decorator and as a cake decorator in a bakery with bigger and more detailed cakes. I learn so much from them and appreciate all of it. I started to do it more for friends and family and when I thought I was doing great my life crumbled I was in a constant horrible pain that stop me from getting up.

With the help of my doctors, injections, and physical therapy I was able to get up a bit more. I started to make sweets and fell in love all over again. I fight my body on a daily basis, but my determination outweighs my pain.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
CKC Sweets is all about Sweets and creating a fun art piece. Making detailed Cakes, Cake pops, Cookies, a lot of more Sweets. With all types of themes and designs. Everything is made with hard work and love.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Sweets have always been part of my life since I was a child and have become my biggest dream.

The biggest surprise people get is that I have a chronic illness at 29-years-old. During this, I will continue to smile and make sweets to make others smile.
