Hi Amy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was a former hair designer with over 23 years behind the chair and a lifelong passion for helping people feel confident in their own skin…..and hair.

Throughout my career, I worked closely with every scalp type and texture. But everything changed when my best friend (someone I’ve known since childhood) was diagnosed with skin cancer on her scalp. She underwent two intense Mohs procedures. Watching her go through that pain, knowing it could’ve been prevented with better awareness and protection, was a wake-up call.

Then, another stylist; a colleague and friend… was diagnosed shortly after. It was no longer a coincidence. It was a pattern. And it was being ignored.

The scalp is one of the most exposed areas of the body, yet it’s often the most forgotten when it comes to sun protection.

As a stylist, and as someone who deeply cares, I knew I had to do something. That’s when Suniful™ was born.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Suniful first sparked in my mind in May 2023 when I realized so many women use dry shampoo daily, so why not add SPF for scalp protection? After some research, I discovered the FDA doesn’t allow shampoos to claim SPF, so I set out to create a scalp protectant that mimics the feel and function of a dry shampoo.

Developing a custom SPF product was far from simply branding an existing formula. I tested countless samples and applicators, searched for the right manufacturer, sourced ingredients from multiple countries, and navigated extensive testing requirements. Each step took patience, problem-solving, and persistence. By the time Suniful finally launched, it had been two years in the making, a journey fueled by determination, countless trials, and a vision to protect scalps without sacrificing great hair days.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
After retiring from my 23-year career as a hair designer, I now specialize in creating products that merge beauty and wellness, helping people protect their scalp health without sacrificing style. SUNIFUL™ is zinc oxide–based, oil-absorbing, and mess-free, working like a dry shampoo but with the added benefit of UV protection. It’s designed for the whole family, from athletes to beach-goers to everyday wearers.

I’m most proud that SUNIFUL™ has already sparked important conversations about scalp health, something many people have never considered before. My goal isn’t just to sell a product, but to inspire skin cancer awareness and prevention on the scalp.

What sets me apart is that this isn’t just business for me, it’s deeply personal. I didn’t white-label an existing formula; I built Suniful from the ground up, testing and refining until it became exactly what I envisioned. It’s a passion project turned mission, and that mission is to make scalp protection as natural and essential as applying sunscreen anywhere else on the body.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best:
I love that you can enjoy the outdoors for eight months out of the year. Our winters are absolutely beautiful, and cooler weather is just a short drive away in the summer. There’s always something happening, endless events, activities, and things to explore. Plus, there’s a real sense of community here. People support small businesses and cheer each other on, which means so much to me as a local entrepreneur.

What I like least:
The summer heat can be relentless, especially for someone promoting sun protection! It’s a constant reminder to take care of your skin year-round. While I’ll never stop loving our sunshine, I wouldn’t mind if July and August took it a little easier on us.
