Check Out Alisha Anglin’s Story

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Anglin.

Alisha Anglin

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Born and raised on the picturesque shores of Long Island, my artistic odyssey all began long before I could even spell “canvas.” My childhood was a symphony of colors conspiring to ignite my creative spark.

Abstract art has been and always will be a passion of mine. A lexicon of feelings I couldn’t express otherwise. My works are bold, unapologetic, and forever thought-provoking.

In 2019, fate intervened. Wayfair, the online home goods retailer, discovered my work. Their partnership was serendipity. My abstract compositions have adorned hundreds of homes across the US and Canada. And then came Amazon Fire TV in 2022. My chaotic artwork danced across screens, illuminating darkened rooms and becoming gateways to introspection. My art was no longer confined to frames.

But I hungered for more, and like a brushstroke of destiny, Walmart entered my life in 2024. Our collaboration has been an orchestra of commerce and creativity since. My paintings are furnished as home decor items in living rooms, boardrooms, and bedrooms across the nation.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
I’d like to say I’ve had a unique journey that intertwines my artistic expression with my personal experiences. Like any artist, I’ve faced rejection, creative blocks, and financial uncertainties, but my determination has kept pushing me forward.

My bold abstract compositions blend expressionist, cubist, and gestural styles. Abstract art often challenges traditional norms, which can be both liberating and isolating. Standing out in a sea of abstract artists requires innovation and authenticity.

Consistently remaining fluid with the times while maintaining originality has been the key to success for me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work transcends traditional boundaries, blending chaos and order into captivating abstract compositions. My passion for art led me to explore various styles, but it was abstract expressionism that I truly resonated with.

I specialize in chaotic abstract art, where there’s an intentional disruption of conventional forms and patterns. I’d like to think of my work as a celebration of imperfection, embracing the unpredictable and the wild. My art evokes emotion and provokes thoughts, inviting viewers to explore the chaos within themselves.

Exhibiting my physical and digital works in galleries, hotels, and online retailers like Wayfair and Walmart has been an amazing milestone. As I gained recognition for my unique approach to abstraction, you can find my work streaming on the #1 lifestyle app LOUPE on smart TVs in millions of homes.

My work stands out due to its deliberate imperfections. I’ve never sought perfection, embracing the chaos inherent in life. I believe my willingness to experiment with different techniques, materials, and styles sets me apart. By constantly and consistently pushing boundaries, I challenge myself to evolve as an artist.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
There’s always sunshine. Arizona has some of the most beautiful and intense sunsets.

While the abstract art scene may not be as large as in some other cities, Phoenix has a tight-knit arts community. Artlink strengthens the arts community of businesses, artists, and galleries with the monthly First Friday art walk, which has grown to become one of the largest monthly art walks in the United States.

Compared to more expensive art hubs like New York or Los Angeles, Phoenix offers a more affordable cost of living. This allows artists to have larger studio spaces, invest in materials, and focus on their craft without the financial strain.

The abstract art scene in Arizona has been growing over the years, but it’s true that it’s no where near as prominent as in some other regions like NYC and Los Angeles.

Being originally from Long Island, I miss the soothing sound of ocean waves, sandy beaches, and the salty breeze. The consistently warm climate in Phoenix means fewer seasonal shifts. Sometimes, I miss the fall foliage, snow-covered landscapes, and the anticipation of spring blooms that I always experienced back in New York.

The good news is that San Diego is a 5-hour drive, or I’m able to fly 5 hours to NY, where I can experience the beach and cooler weather with my family when I’m able to get away.
