Check out Mark Walters’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Walters.

Mark, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born in Cardiff Wales UK. When I was 1 my family moved to Hong Kong. I was there until I was 6. I returned to England to go to Boarding school until I moved here to the US when I was 12. I spent many years as a child traveling the world. Living in Asia and traveling so much is where I found the love for the Asian art.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I have been creative and artistic my whole life. As a child alone in school across the world I used art as a way to express myself. I used to draw, paint and write a lot. My whole family is artistic. My mother still creates beautiful paintings. I have been an award winning professional tattoo artist for 30 years. My specialty is Asian influenced art. My studio is 25 years old this year and we are a top award winning studio. My goal has always been to provide beautiful meaningful art for people. Whether it’s in the form of a tattoo that they can view on their skin forever or a written word on paper .

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
When I was younger I thought success I’m my tattooing was to get to where I saw the top guys doing my style of tattooing. I also wanted to constantly grow as an artist. The older I got I grew to where I won awards and my art was more noticed and I was getting the recognition I wanted. However, in my eyes my art still wasn’t anywhere I wanted it to be. I feel I still need to push myself daily on ever new piece I start and I constantly strive to make them better and more creative. I think as an Artist, you are your biggest critic and when you finally feel you have gotten to where you are getting where you want to be, you are still leaps and bounds from it. And you need to embrace that and constantly want to grow..
