Check out Marcos Garcia’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcos Garcia.

Marcos, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I started photographing about ten years ago. My subjects were always the toys I had in my pocket and my camera was my mother’s phone. I had no idea what I was doing, but it brought a sense of peace to me as it does now. When I started my freshman year of high school, I took my first photography class. It was nothing like I expected it to be. I learned about things that I had never even heard of. I learned about the history of the camera, famous photographers, and, most importantly, aperture. I now have a Nikon D3400 that I am constantly experimenting with and I have grown to photograph people, statues, lights, vehicles, landscapes, and animals. No matter where I am or what I’m doing, I always find peace with my camera.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a photographer. I take photos of things I love and things that make me uncomfortable. I take most of my photos on photo-walks, but I am always excited to use a studio. I currently consider myself in a state of learning that will never stop, but I hope to use my photographs to bring awareness of world conflicts and spark change.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
For an artist to be successful, he or she needs to be patient, dedicated, and strive to be better. As they work with these characteristics, their art will improve and so will their success. My success as an Artist would come from change in society and personal improvement with my photographs. My goal is to change people’s perspective on the ecosystem and the economic struggles.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I post a lot of my work on my Instagram (@MGLightWizard), but I am currently working on a website and hope to have my photos in the yoga studio I practice at. The best support my work can get is through conversation. The more social awareness I can get, the more of an impact I can make in the world.
