Today we’d like to introduce you to Manolo Topete.
Manolo, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I have always liked photography. When I was in high school I tried to enroll in photography class, however, I was never able to take the class since there was no room for more students. My dad bought me my first SLR camera. It was a Yashika with a kit lens. I had a blast with it. Even though it does not work any longer, I still have it for sentimental value. I always owned a camera throughout my early adult life. It was in 2013 when I decided to go pro. Since I was never able to take a class, I learned by trial and error. I am still learning new techniques. I guess one never really finishes learning.
We’d love to hear more about your work. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I do photography and videography. I do photography because by freezing a fraction of a second, you can see a person express their feelings, attitude and inner/outer beauty. I also love to give people a lasting memory of their most important days of their lives.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
My advice is to keep learning. Don’t think you know enough of whatever your craft is. Never put down other’s work, remember there is someone always better than you too.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
