Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Olsen-kubalek.
Laura, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I started my passion for photography pretty early on in life at about 13. I got my first camera. I didn’t have much direction yet but knew I loved capturing moments. At 16 I went to modeling school and became a model under an alias. I was definitely learning more skills as a photographer in the modeling world. At one point I was doing photography workshops as a model and started helping photographers with settings and light set up. That’s when I knew I had open my own Photography Business. I moved to Arizona 4 years ago and I’m still building my business here and often travel back to Philadelphia where I originated.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
In 2011, when I had my first son Jude and realized I was in love with maternity/newborn photography. I try my best to capture the most beautiful and special moments in a woman’s life! Within the last two years, I decided that I wanted to expand into birth photography. It’s 100% my favorite!
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Don’t compare yourself to others in your niche. It’s easy to start picking yourself apart based on others. I believe everyone has something to offer and everyone is different. Just be yourself because theirs a client out there for everyone. I am successful because I am happy and content with my art at the end of the day.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I have a Facebook/Instagram/website that will be linked.
