Check out Josh & Caren Rodgers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh & Caren Rodgers.

Josh & Caren, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as artists.
Josh and I have been in the fitness industry for many years. After obtaining a degree in Exercise Science from Northern Arizona University, Josh has worked his way through personal training at major gyms to owning his own training business. Caren obtained her personal training certification and trained others for several years before turning to business administration. We moved to the east valley after purchasing a home, and we were looking for a more personal place to work out, that also had childcare. With two children, we know the importance of good childcare while getting in a great workout. We couldn’t find a place to work out that wasn’t a ‘box gym’ or a boot-camp style facility. After a lot of discussions, we decided to open Radius Fitness. Radius is a facility that offers all group classes. These classes range from cycle, yoga, fitness, and boxing. We also wanted a place that everyone felt comfortable working out at, no matter the fitness level of the individual. With small group classes in mind, members will receive better instruction and focus within these classes. In addition, our RadKidz team members are all CPR/First Aid Certified.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Our concept is a fitness facility that is welcoming to all levels; beginner, intermediate and advanced individuals who seek a friendly community type atmosphere. Our intent is to give our customers the best workout within a judgment-free and encouraging facility that is enjoyable, both on the fitness level and the community level. Josh and I have put a lot of thought and development into the classes we offer here with the focus of cardio health, strength, and stretch. These are the three main components that will give you a well-rounded fitness experience and let you progress within your fitness journey.

The stereotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
Our best recommendation would be to research the area you are looking to build your brick and mortar. After the location is found, start spreading the word of about your business, to spark that interest so people are interested in your concept before it is even seen/open. When creating a completely new facility that people are unfamiliar with and what you are it’s difficult to get people excited for your business to open. That is why advertising before hand is so important, so you get your brand in front of as many people as you can. Then when you are ready to open those doors, people are excited to finally see the end product and are more likely toinvest their time and support in your business.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
We are located in the east valley, off of Crismon just south of the US 60. Our schedule is online for easy accessibility and we also have an app, Radius Fitness App that can be downloaded.
