Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy Whip.
Jimmy, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I started creating a couple year’s ago. I lost my daughter and was struggling. One night I had ended up at a full moon gathering searching for any answers. At the end, they passed around an item called a speaking totem. As I held this creation I started to speak, I felt a sense of connection and that I wasn’t alone. I realized that I needed to create something beautiful again. So I started honoring things that have passed to respect and share their power.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create and use many types of medium.
I do a lot of hiking in Arizona and find all my things that have naturally passed.
I am drawn to the Native American arts and like to focus on the metaphysical side.
Creating personal pieces for healers is especially significant. They help so many others, and if I can create something that helps that process, it’s truly an honor.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Keep true to your spirit and create in truth.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Instagram has been my main focus. I’m starting to do art shows and recently created an Etsy shop.
