Today we’d like to introduce you to Hope Mendrin.
Hope, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Photography has always been a part of my life. Since childhood, I have had a joy of capturing a still moment to be forever. Memories treasured for a lifetime. Nestled in the corner of South-Western Australia, I grew up in a small town called Busselton. Family values, the walks of life, to everyday living, you would see me taking pictures. In high school, you would see me shy and tucked away in the Arts and Photography lab. As a teenager, you would have found me working with photographers – printing their photos in our local photo studio. Bringing my passion with me to the USA, the same love follows. Any opportunity to capture, I am hiding behind my Canon 60D and shining to create an experience that my client won’t forget.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I like to focus on a client’s true and raw emotion. I love when there is a glimpse in a person’s eye of true happiness. That is the perfect source of true inspiration for me as there is so much beauty in our everyday life. A couples happiness in engagement or simple wedding. A mama ready to bring a new joy into the world. A child’s reaction to a birthday or new school year. A family ready to put a stamp in time of togetherness. Happiness comes in all forms and all are equally special. These moments should be cherished with the warmth and comfort that I bring.
Copper State Photography was born in 2017 with the intention of warmth and happiness. My images are taken in natural light settings all around Phoenix and edited with a subtle warmth that emphasizes our State of Arizona, as the Copper State.
I have in the past taken some product shots of local businesses. Soaps, natural beeswax wraps, and bread- to name a few. I also love our natural desert scenery and you can find me hiking the local Estrella and Verrado Mountains with camera in hand.
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
In this world of various online platforms, I can see many challenges that face our Artists of today. Photographers are in abundance and widespread. Using social media as a platform to share and connect to the consumer market can have its constraints. Social media today has become so big, and that much harder to spread an artists message and stand out from the crowd. Even more so, I truly believe in supporting local artists, there is always value in another artists perception.
Hard work, a love for my art and finding inspiration daily to create unique frame recipes; helps combat the negative thoughts and challenges that come my way.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
