Check out German Padilla’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to German Padilla.

German, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’ve always been into shooting. I used to have a little $30 camcorder in elementary school that I would use to make and upload silly videos to YouTube with my friend Paul. I remember spending hours on Windows Movie Maker editing those videos after school. I also took media classes all throughout high school.

I never thought that using a camera could become an actual career for me until my friend asked me to take some band promos for his band when I was in college. That photo shoot is what sparked something in my brain that made me think “This is what I want to do for the rest of my life”. I’m so glad and fortunate that it’s been going well and paying off since then.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a photographer/videographer based out of Southern Arizona. I shoot because I love it. It’s always been an interest of mine. I’m driven by the passion and love for the art, not the money. I hope people see that in order to do something for the rest of your life, you have to do it out of passion and because it’s what you want to do. If you go headfirst into a career without that mindset, you’ll never truly be successful.

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
There’s a lot I can say about that subject. A lot. For photographers, I think it’s just a matter of giving credit where credit is due! Tagging the original owner of something can really go a long way, and most people don’t seem to realize that. Inspiration is something that I struggle with, and I know others do too. Sometimes there’s so much negativity surrounding everything that it’s hard to find time or motivation to pick up a camera, paintbrush, or guitar. Self-doubt is another thing too. You can’t judge yourself so hard just because someone might have better equipment, bigger audience, or more success than you. That person might put out a better quality photo than what you put out, but that doesn’t make it better. I’ve seen people put out garbage with their super high-end camera. If you got the right eye and vision, you can put out gold with a 10-megapixel camera compared to a 24-megapixel camera.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My work is everywhere. I always see people sharing my stuff on Facebook. It’s awesome. Getting recognized for something you put time and work into is truly something else. I post all my stuff on my social media. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. I’m currently working on a website for all that. How can people support my work? Just share it! If you see my stuff pop up on your timeline, give it a like or comment! Whatever gives the piece traction. If you want to book a shoot, book one! It won’t cost you an arm and a leg haha!
