Check out Donatas Zadeikis’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donatas Zadeikis.

Donatas was born in Siauliai, Lithuania and, since 1994, has lived in Chicago and in 2014 relocated to Phoenix, Arizona. Donatas established local civic acclaim for art early in life with several local exhibitions and shows throughout Lithuania, such as Siauliai Art Museum and Gallery of Modern Art, Vilnius Museum of Fine arts. He also received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Art School of Siauliai and Collage Functional/Applied Arts in Telsiai Lithuania.

Donatas’ early works consisted of ink drawings, oils, pastels and charcoal sketches. In 1994 Donatas came to the United States of America, his adopted home, and was part of the Chicago Art Open exhibition. His interest in art is always expanding; Donatas has developed a genre that can be considered surrealism/pseudo-realistic/modern abstract. His work unites still life and alternate world vision to convey the message of his personal life and experiences. Although he doesn’t consider himself to be highly influenced by any one artist’s his admiration for Salvador Dali, Gustav Klimt and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec are recognized through his own artistic style. Donatas currently works in oils, pastels, watercolors, digital media and photography. He has been involved in multiple group shows and has sold his work to European and American collectors. Today some of Donatas’s paintings are located in Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta and Scottsdale, AZ.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My art is a constant search for beauty, collaboration of shapes and colors, it’s discoveries and answers. There is no particular message in my art, instead it’s only frozen capsules of time that let me reflect, think, enjoy and learn; creating one piece of art gives me great inspiration for a new one. I tend to create more abstract art because in my opinion it maintains more timeless qualities; it allows the viewer to constantly find new things in the painting… I create my art using paint, resin, wood, glass and things that I find interesting. Why I create art? Because I would not know how to exist if not by creating art. I believe that my art is a manifestation of my other side. I never intended for my art to be created for someone else, it was only me that needed to be satisfied and that is how and why I ended up creating so many pieces.

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
I don’t have a single opinion about challenges facing artists.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
