Check out Darian Clouse’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darian Clouse.

Darian, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
The inspiration for starting birth photography really happened after I had a baby of my own. I cherish the photos that I have of my daughter and wanted to give that to other mothers. I started to experience some postpartum depression and knew that I needed an outlet of my own besides being a wife and mother. I did tons of research on how to get started and what equipment I would need, especially in low light settings such as birth. My first births I did for free for family and friends to really get my feet wet into the world of birth photography. After that first birth I was hooked and knew that birth was the type of photography for me!.

During birth, mothers are so focused on getting their babies here safely and often miss the small details of that special day. I wanted to give that day back to those moms through photos, all the small and great details of the happiest day of their lives.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I do mostly birth photography as well as fresh 48 and newborn lifestyle photography. I do this in hope to give that special day back to that family to look at for the rest of their lives. Photos are something that get better and more valuable with time and to have photos of such a special time is such a treasure. I really try and capture everything that goes on during a birth: labor, the birth process, the expressions and feelings of meeting your baby for the first time, baby’s measurements and the little details in between.

There is also a part of my photography that is very special to me and that is called NICU Journeys. My daughter spent some time in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) quickly after she was born. Those days were so full of fear and the unknown. I do these NICU Journeys to give families photos of their babies and to hopefully remember a time that was overcome or of a time that cannot be replaced. I do these 100% for free because I know how expensive and frightening having a baby in the NICU can be. It’s the most rewarding part of my photography and I absolutely love doing them!

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
For me, success is defined by the things I’m getting to experience and by the reactions and feedback I receive from my clients when looking at their photos for the first time! When a client is ecstatic about their photos, that is success to me. My goal is to give priceless photos to these families and when I feel like I have accomplished that with each client, I feel like I am succeeding in my goals and dreams for my small business.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
The majority of my work is through my Instagram which is: @darianclousephoto. I also have a website for my business which is: darianclousephotography.com

The best way to support me and the movement I’m trying to create is by following me on Instagram and recommending me to those that are expecting babies!
