Check out Dana Albert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Albert.

Dana, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I lived in the darkroom in high school. I couldn’t afford film school, so I got a job at ASU in the broadcast lab to play with cameras and editing machines. Luckily I helped out a lot of people, one of them recommend me to a production studio who needed an intern. I quickly had to figure out new equipment and software, and in my free time, I got to go out on shoots. I loved motion graphics and would teach my self though books how the software works, YouTube was not around at the time. The company dissolved and I got picked up at an animation studio in town where I would put together commercials, and they would teach me a 3D program in the downtime. I am now a one man video production army at a network company. I don’t watch a lot of T.V.; instead, I create motion art and learn new techniques. I love connecting people and ideas. I approach every problem with hard-nosed skill and wisecracking humor.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create motion graphic artwork, some call it animation, but it’s not really like the characters of Disney. I like to create textured artwork in the computer then make it move and transform with the use of 3d and 2d software.

I use programs like Aftereffects, Photoshop, Cinema 4d. I do it because I love learning new techniques. I lose track of time when making things; it’s almost like an escape when you are reading a good fictional book.

Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
In the past, Art was used as an expression to get an idea or feeling across or call attention to something; nowadays I think art is being used more to persuade people to buy something or persuade them. I work for a corporation, so I am getting paid by a marketing company to persuade people.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
https://vimeo.com/danaalbert is the most up to date place.

People can support it by sharing it with others or ask me to collaborate with them on a project.
