Check out Claudia Vidaurri’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Vidaurri.

Claudia, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
As an artist I was raised with the desire to create something. anything really. Personally, I just knew from the age of seven, eight-is I wanted to be in front of the camera; or behind it because the old cam corders have all the evidence- I’m serious. I was always in the way! When I grew older, I loved cameras and my story isn’t phenomenal or inspiring really, I just came to a point where I really wanted to film things and take pictures usually of people because that’s where I found my enjoyment. In high school I ran around lunch with a small Canon camera and photographed everyone at lunch until it broke.

Then when the iPod was cool enough to have a built-in camera I was recording everything with that until something new came along. It was somewhere within the first year of college where I desired to do not one, but multiple things with my life and that fell along the lines of fashion, traveling, people and just finding a way to use whatever sense of creativity I had in me to combine it all so I picked up a camera one day, a close friend, and had her hide in some dirt, trees across the street and it took one boiling hot summer day, about 10, 20 pictures and when I saw the grin across her face that told me this was something, I told myself “oh yeah. This is it. I want to keep doing this.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My portraits are a constant work in progress, I feel. There are some moments where I think “Wow this could be great or this could be a powerful message for individuals but I haven’t worked myself up enough to that point because I’ve treated this hobby, this passion more as a way to connect and work with my favorite subjects; people. I’ve always been inspired by the people. People are beautiful, they’re all so interesting to me. I’ve always found something in them, compared to photographing landscapes or architecture or something else. It’s the people that captivate my eyes, my energy, and my creativity the most.

It sounds super cheesy but trust me I’ve built so many memories and wonderful opportunities thanks to the people I’ve been fortunate enough to work with. As of always, my focus is helping my community grow, artists, small businesses, entrepreneurs. And just sharing the unknown faces of everyday, regular individuals who deserve to feel just as handsome or radiant in front of a camera, and in life of course. At random, I’ll even share some of the locations I travel to as well. Continuing, I view my art as: colorful and imaginative, a little spontaneous but definitely the focus is that it’s fun. Hopefully I can continue to switch it up. I desire to evolve, so the motive is to just learn. Learn. Learn. I really just want to create fun, and interesting art for those that love this industry.

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
I think one of the biggest challenges is that this is an incredibly competitive industry. There’s just so, so much talent. And creatively, it’s harder and harder every year in order to bring in clients, to sell/promote art, even just to get people to view their art on social media platforms. Nothing’s wrong with more people coming into this artistic industry, but It’s one of those supply and demand kind of things that make artists have to work twice as hard to get noticed, hired, etc.

As more and more people decide to hop into this world of photography, it’s harder to make a name for one’s self. Especially if they want to make it big (depending on the direction they want to go of course.) However, the growth of this industry has also taught us to work together and help push one another to be better. Within this community of artists, we are supporting one another either financially, or just promoting and constantly sharing each other’s art. And that’s good enough. It’s beautiful. It says something you know because in the end, we all have the same goal: to be successful. And that’s powerful.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Most of the time I display everything on Instagram, my username is: @_claudssss_ that’s where I share it all. Everything else is displayed on my website at www.cvportraits.com
