Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara Cisneros.

Ciara, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I have two great passions in life, music, and art. I started drawing figures as soon as the scribbles at two years old began to form stick figures. From there, as the school years passed, I took interest in all types of conventional mediums to create paintings (acrylic, watercolor, airbrush) and drawings (charcoal, ink, marker, scratchboard). I also enjoy working “out of the box” using all kinds of materials, such as recycled cardboard, scraps from previous creations, wood, shoes and whatever else I come across to use in new projects. Music has also been a big part of my life. At nine months old, I was humming the Barney song and by five years old, I had my first singing performance at a church gathering. I began playing guitar at 13 years old and have not put it down since. I have been blessed to write and record songs, with the release of my first single in June of 2018.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I definitely express myself through art. I like to convey emotions, thoughts, and beliefs through each piece that I create. There is not a consistent canvas that I favor, but instead, utilize a variety of materials for my pieces. I most recently took on a summer project and customized an electric guitar with a dragon painting and handpicked hardware that I had installed. My other pieces of art range from paintings, to wood burning and drawings. Currently, I am in my second year of graphic design at Arizona State University. I have already been able to incorporate my artwork in some designs that I have made for stickers and t-shirts. Being able to express myself through art is a blessing. Through graphic design, I hope to provide others with the opportunity to express their ideas, thoughts, and visions in customized designs. Like art, I also convey emotions, thoughts, and beliefs in my music. I was fortunate enough to release my first single titled “Up” in June of this year. The song is about all the amazing people in my life and how I appreciate them in the little things that I see every day. I hope my music reaches others in a way that they can relate to feelings and provide uplifting inspiration and energy in their lives.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
I define success by the ability to connect with others through my music and art. For me, I think being able to “think out of the box” is essential to success as an artist. I am always amazed and inspired by the wonder, beauty, fun, etc. that other artists and musicians create out of the ordinary. There is no limit in an artistic imagination.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Currently, I have an Instagram page, @artc_ciara, dedicated to my artwork and graphic designs. I hope to gradually build a business on commissioned design work and maybe even some art pieces. In addition, I released my first single titled “Up” on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and other streaming platforms. I occasionally play at various venues around Phoenix and the surrounding cities.
