Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Brooks.

Carly, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was a teacher for 12 years and taking photos was my hobby. I desperately wanted a baby, and after six long years of waiting, I finally had a baby girl. That being said, I wanted to do anything possible to be able to stay home with her. While I was pregnant, my best friend asked me if I wanted to start a photography business together. This was my opportunity!

Things started slow. I took classes and was mentored to fine-tune my shooting and editing skills. I also gave away a lot of free photoshoots! But as the years have flown by, I have now been in business for almost nine years! Unfortunately, my best friend stepped away from the business a few years ago, but I have pushed forward and grown Sonshine Girls to what it is today. I am proud of the photographer I have become. I am a people person. I find beauty and joy wherever I go. I like to show that in my images. Love. Laughter. Warmth. Authenticity. Fun!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a lifestyle photographer. I love to capture families in their everyday life as well as for special events. I want to document the moment so they can look back at the images, smile and remember how happy they were. I am good with people, and even better with kids, I think. So I feel that I make people comfortable and can enjoy the moment, laugh a little so that I can capture their genuine relationships.
