Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Myer.

Brandon, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I have always had a passion for photography since I was a kid. I am originally from New Orleans, LA and moved to Arizona a little over two years. I started really getting into the photography field when I made the move to Arizona.

Back in New Orleans, there isn’t a lot of picturesque spots. Most photography in New Orleans pretty much gets the same shot with a different location in the French Quarters.

In Arizona, there are so many great places to go and take different shots. With me just starting out, I do not have the most expensive equipment. I am teaching myself the fundamentals of photography and the editing process. Once I get all of the fundamentals mastered, I would love to do a bit of every type of photography that’s out there.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
The art that I try to display is pretty much travel and landscape. The reason that I have started of with these two types of photography because I am brand new to Arizona and do not know a lot of people out here.

I like travel photography because I am always either going on a road trip or flying somewhere. Travel photography interests me because not everyone is able to go on different road trips or vacations, so instead of not seeing the world, I would show them the world through photography.

Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
I think the conditions for different artists has some challenges. The reason I say this because photography, for example, is a very competitive hobby to take on. I do think Phoenix could offer more hands-on classes to beginners to visit and network with more experienced photographers.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Since I am brand new to photography, all of my photos can be found on my Instagram page @infinityphoto_3. I have been working n building a portfolio, so I can then build a website. I would ask that if anyone were to visit my Instagram to spread the word to your friends and family.
