Check out Barbara Hinske’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Hinske.

Barbara, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an author.
I’m an attorney by day and novelist by night. I’ve always done a lot of technical writing but knew I wanted to write novels. I thought I’d find time when I retired. Fate stepped in, as it often does, and put me on this path sooner rather than later. I broke my neck in an auto accident in 2010 and suffered from double vision for months. I couldn’t read or watch TV, so I conceived the plot for my five book Rosemont series.

I published my first book in the series – Coming to Rosemont – in 2013. Since that time, I’ve published the other four books in the series. I’ve also published a novella called The Christmas Club and—drumroll please!—Crown Media (as in The Hallmark Channel) has purchased the screen rights to the book for a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie.

As part of my author journey, I was a television reviewer for UK website Cultbox.co for Downton Abbey, The Crown, Home Fires, and other shows. A very fun gig indeed!

As an “authorpreneu”, I’m self-published in print and ebooks and traditionally published in audiobook format. I’ve learned to market my books through social media and have a significant presence on Facebook and YouTube under Barbara Hinske. My website is www.BarbaraHinske.com. Check me out!

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I love to read—and write—series fiction. My goal is to uplift, encourage, and entertain. I’ve spent months of my life in doctor’s offices and hospital waiting rooms, first with my terminally ill mother and—later— with my husband before he died. I always kept a novel tucked in my purse to provide me with a mental break from the harsh reality in front of me. My greatest hope is that I can provide the same sort of comfort to others through my work. Readers have told me that I do just that and I am thrilled to receive that feedback.

I like to fall in love with a character or hate a character (but root for them to change their ways). I want characters—and settings—to feel like old friends. My readers and reviewers say that I’ve created that sort of connection in the Rosemont series.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an author?
I define success in terms of the satisfaction I get from the creative work, the response I get from my readers, and the commercial (financial) success of my books. I define myself as a successful author.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My books are on Amazon in print, Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and audio.
