Check out Anjeleiko Moreno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anjeleiko Moreno.

Anjeleiko, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
For me dancing saved me from my own depression, and because of dancing Ive found more things that make life seem brighter. I am an aspiring dancer, videographer, photographer and entrepreneur. Dancing gave me a reason to live and is now one of the ways I make a living for myself. Throughout the many hardships of my life dancing has gotten me through it all.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a dancer, and my primary style is called “animation.” Animation falls under the category of popping and specializes in robotic movement (ex: twitching, glitching, vibrating, and tutting). Through my dance, I like to create an experience that is more unconventional for whoever is viewing. When I started dancing it was one of the only things that could get me to smile, so my main goal with dancing was to put a smile on other peoples faces. I wanted to inspire others like myself to find something that they could make them smile the same way dance did for me. I want people to see my work and get motivated to find and pursue their own passion. My art is more than just work, its a story passion, depression, failure, success, and finding the drive to never give up.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
I define success as seeing peoples faces light up when I start moving. If I can get a reaction out of my audience, then I know Ive changed the mood of someone, and that is what keeps me motivated to continue moving forward with my passion. A characteristic of a successful artist, in my opinion, would be the ability to embrace the bad days and use them as motivation to overcome their own situations.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My work can be found on Instagram @dance_god_orbit, @theixcrew_, and @savethegirl_ or live every month in Downtown Phoenix at First Friday art walk (cross streets are 3rd st. And Roosevelt). People can support my art by booking me via email or Instagram direct message, and via donations to my cash app ($AlekszMoreno).
