Check out Amanda Shipp’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Shipp.

Amanda, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
When I was first began dating my husband, he knew I loved taking photos. He surprised me with a small Canon Rebel (I know, not the nicest camera in the world, but I fell in love with it) I began shooting anyone I could. I shot families, senior graduates, new-borns, you name it! I then found a camera in my dad’s basement, it wasn’t much better but it looked more professional! This began my passion and love for wedding photography. Since then, I have updated my lens, my body, and invested everything into my business. It just goes to show that if you have a drive to succeed, you will. I love what I do. I feel so lucky I get to share my art with the world and capture one of the best days of people’s lives.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Luckily for me, my couples do most the work. They just don’t know it! They are in love. And I get to capture them on their happiest day together. Don’t get me wrong, I pose the couple and direct them to know what to do. But they are happy, and that makes my photos the same. I edit very true to color and capture timeless photos. My photos will still be in style for years so come. I feel it’s important to capture moments together as a couple, laughing and being themselves. I work with some of the best couples and they inspire me to be the best I can be!

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Something I wish I knew sooner is to never compare yourself to others. Once you start comparing your art with someone else you will, most likely, become discouraged about your work. Instead of comparing, take pride in your work. Its ok to admire other artists, in fact I think it’s important to admire artists and their work. But never try to copy or be like them, because you are unique and only you can capture something that no one else can.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
