We recently had the chance to connect with Breanna Mora and have shared our conversation below.
Breanna , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
In a world that constantly moves at full speed—with work, gym, family, and church filling up most of my days—I’m grateful for the structure, but it can also feel like I’m just moving through the motions. What makes me lose track of time and truly reconnect with myself is soap making.
It started as a coping method during undergrad, a kind of therapy when everything felt overwhelming. Even now, years later, it’s the one thing that instantly brings me peace. I might go months without touching my supplies, but the moment I start measuring oils, mixing, and creating, I feel joy and calm wash over me. It’s where creativity meets stillness, and in that space, I always find myself again.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Breanna Mora, and I’m the creator of SoapsbyB! What began as a creative outlet to manage the stress of school quickly became something much more meaningful. I started making soaps to support myself during college, and as I refined my craft, I expanded into candles and wax melts.
After graduating and building a loyal customer base, I decided to turn my passion into a full-fledged business. SoapsbyB is now a space where I create simple, beautifully crafted products that bring moments of peace, joy, and calm to everyday life.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
It might sound cliché, but the two people who truly saw me before I ever saw myself were my parents. I’ve been blessed with incredible role models in them. From a young age, they recognized my potential—even when I couldn’t—and have always encouraged my siblings and me to pursue our best selves in everything we do. Their unwavering belief in me laid the foundation for the confidence and drive I have today.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be this: You don’t have to carry everything on your own. I know you tend to suffer in silence, but asking for help is not a weakness. Over time, you’ll learn that friends may come and go, but family is constant. Don’t let time slip away. Cherish your loved ones while you can, and hold them a little closer.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what truly matters to me is treating others with kindness and being there for those in need. I was raised to live by the principle of treating others the way I want to be treated. In a world that often feels heavy with negativity, I believe small acts of kindness can make a real difference. You never know what someone might be going through, and sometimes a little compassion is all it takes to brighten their day.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had only 10 years left to live, I would immediately stop working my full-time job. In today’s economy, a 40-hour workweek is often necessary just to stay afloat—but if I had the choice, I’d walk away and pour my energy into the people who matter most. The truth is, we’re all replaceable at work, and nothing in life is guaranteed. Time is the one thing we can’t get back, and I’d choose to spend more of it with my family, making memories and being fully present.
