Art & Life with Zee Peralta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zee Peralta.

Zee, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I received my first camera my senior year of school which was a manual film Minolta X – 370. That summer ended with 12 rolls of film and a new-found passion for photography. I knew right away this hobby was something that was going to make me happy moving forward. In fact, it relieved a lot of the stress of becoming a functioning adult. Soon after leaving school I took a career in corporate American where the grueling stress was overbearing and defeating. It has been almost 6 years since I decide to return to my true passion of art and photography. I remember the minute I picked up the camera and how those old forgotten feelings came surging thru my hands. I began exploring Phoenix and our surrounding areas. I love the creativity of capturing beautiful moments with my lens.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a photographer/artist. I create visual stories and visual art. Pictures make us feel and they make us wonder. The city has become my canvas. I love exploring and seeing new things, meeting new people, capturing real life along the way. I use to be afraid to shoot alone downtown (I’m still cautious) after all these years I feel more at one with the city and the people. I see common faces that smile and wave. For me it’s not just the photo, it’s the day, it’s the experience and the story.

Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
The art culture has grown extensively in the past few years. I’m impressed with the way things are growing and moving. I see a lot of more local businesses and entities supporting local artist. Helping them showcase their work at no cost. Giving them work opportunities and helping them make a name for themselves.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I have a busy fall coming up! This September Snoh Shavery (Downtown) is featuring’s some of my street work. This November 2nd 2018 Valley Metro will reveal the arts line wall showing a collage of my work. The wall is located at the central station on Roosevelt/Central. November 2nd 2018 I will have a one-night pop-up show at the Found Re Hotel. December 7th 2018 I’ll be the featured artist at Jobot Coffee Shop. January 4th 2019 I’ll be the featured artist at The Found:RE hotel
