Art & Life with Trevor Ronde

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Ronde.

Trevor, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Where to begin haha, I just pretty much fell into doing photography even when I was in high school. I used to buy the disposable cameras at Walmart and go to local shows and shoot my friend’s bands.

Fast forward to the present, and I am basically doing the very same thing, but instead of the disposable camera, I upgraded to professional gear. Never went to school for photography or had anyone show me what to do. I just started messing around with the settings until I figured out what everything does. Taught myself how to edit my photos as well with trial and error basically.

I just really enjoyed stopping moments in time and be able to relive those moments anytime I wanted to. I just started (legally) shooting people, and it turns out I’m pretty good at it, and others really enjoy my work.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am currently a live music photographer, and my main goal is to capture musicians at the moment. It’s my job to transform their performance into a work of art in the form of photos.

I try to capture the intimate moments between the musicians and their craft; them smiling or interacting with the crowd or just really getting lost in their music. I really hope people see my photos and they are able to feel the band’s performance through my shots. That’s my ultimate goal for every one of my live photo shoots.

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
People want actually to put a value to art itself. Myself just like the musicians I shoot, we all have very expensive equipment that we have to purchase and also have to spend quite a bit of time perfecting our crafts, yet people feel we should give them our art for free and be paid in “exposure.”

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
Photography at the moment is my side hobby but I can easily be found on Facebook or Instagram and bands can contact me if they want me to shoot them or in the very near future, also do ACTUAL photo shoots. My website currently has all of my photos up, and I am constantly adding to it as I go out and shoot more bands.
