Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylore Clark.
Taylore, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I work a full-time job as an oral surgery assistant while my husband attends school full time in hopes of getting into dental school. We also have a beautiful one-year old daughter! I think I speak for most moms when I say I wish I could stay home with her. I’ve always had an artsy side so for my last birthday my husband bought me a wood burner, and I fell in love! I work long hours during the day so nights while my daughter sleeps, I would burn to my heart’s content and prepare pieces to sell at boutiques. I love that every piece I sell is something that I worked so hard on, and loved every second of it! It’s an amazing feeling that something you worked so hard on is hanging in someone else’s home. I still work full time as an oral surgery assistant, but this is just the beginning. As my family grows, I hope my little business Bright Eyed Pyro grows as well!
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I make wood burned art. To burn the wood the type of wood burner I use specifically is called a Coalwood burner. It’s just liked a pen but gets extremely hot and glides into the wood like it nothing! Not only was I looking for something I could do from home eventually, but I also wanted a hobby. Something that relaxes me and makes me happy. My little get away. I feel like everyone needs a hobby. Something they enjoy and feel like they are good at. I am honored that people want to actually buy the stuff I make and support me! When it comes to eventually staying home with my daughter, I am so grateful for that! But what I really love is that I found something I love. I am truly blessed because I love my full-time job, and I love wood burning.
I remember times in my life where I had a job that I hated, and wished so badly I could find a hobbie that I loved and something that I felt like I was good at. But I didn’t stop looking, and I didn’t stop trying. I am happy where I am at in life, and I know it will only get better from here. My goal now is to continue being happy and growing. And hopefully inspiring others to find something that makes them happy. My husband tells me I’m the worst business woman because whenever someone asks me how I do what I do, what I use, or where I get my product, I happily tell them. I’m just grateful it was ME! I inspired them to go and try something new! How awesome is that?! Everything I make is unique, no one piece is the same! And I’m starting to do custom orders. I love that people trust me to make something that they can treasure. And because my work is high quality, it can be treasured for years to come.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Just to keep trying. I gave up so many times with other hobbies because I felt like I wasn’t good enough. With wood burning I enjoyed it, and because of that I kept trying. So, my hope is that people just find something they enjoy. And if you enjoy it, keep going! Even if you don’t plan on selling it and you just want a hobbie, everyone has something they are good at! Don’t give up!
