Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzy Goodrick.

Suzy, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My story with photography began when I was a child and would watch my dad take photos on his film camera. He loved capturing the people around him and that excitement wore off on me. I began taking classes and learning about shooting on film and the dark room in high school, which lead me to pursue a business and design degree and now, pursue full time wedding photography.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I have found a fierce love for wedding, couple, and boudoir photography. In each of these styles of photography, I strive to create environments of comfort and intimacy. During a couple’s session, my goal is for them to walk away from a session having fallen more in love with their partner. During boudoir, I want to empower and celebrate the minds, body’s, and spirits that women hold and share with the world. I may be their guide, but they are the focus of the session. It’s all about sharing their story.

Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
Finding community as a photographer has been my greatest decision to move myself and my business forward. Being an artist IS lonely, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. I believe in surrounding ourselves with supporters, believers, and friends who can push us to be better when we have nothing left to give. Joining a local Tuesdays Together group has been life-changing for me, as well as being intentional about finding and investing in friendships with fellow boss babes.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I love sharing my work and getting to know the people with whom my art resonates with. My art can be seen on my website, Instagram, and Facebook page. The community can support my work by sharing their lives with me online, following along, and inviting me to capture their stories.
