Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Buschart.

Steven, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I moved to Phoenix, AZ from St. Louis Missouri in 1996, to pursue Metal Music and start a band in the Southwest. I co-founded Motive in the Summer of 1999 and have been plugging away for 20 years this June. Motive has released six albums, played in 27 states, and have been interviewed and broadcasted all over the world. I have kept the band alive through thick and thin over the years, made some recent changes, and we are currently having the best time. Never give up! We have a new album out called “Fight the World,” and we’ll be doing another tour this Summer.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I write songs in a Metal band (Motive). My songs usually start with a Guitar riff, but that’s not a rule. You can start with anything; a lyric, vocal pattern, bass line, drum beat, etc… but the Guitar is my main tool for writing. Song topics range from Personal battles, relationships, war, politics, good/bad habits, drugs, death, strengths/weaknesses. The main theme I usually find throughout all of these topics, is hope, perseverance, and a way to get through it all, to succeed, not just survive. Life is not easy, but you can’t be a wimp about it, you gotta fight, you gotta work at it one way or another.

Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Fun is fun, and business is business, learn the difference. Learn how to balance them both, then you have a better chance of being a successful, professional band. Obviously, we are in the digital age, but with Metal and Rock music, you still need to be out there on the street, in the clubs, in concert venues, on tour, and with the people!
