Art & Life with Nicole from Prickly Pixels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole from Prickly Pixels.

Nicole, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I am a Phoenix native and a graduate from both the University of Arizona and Arizona State University (that way, I always win on rivalry days!). I have worked for my family’s plastic injection molding business for the past seven years but recently made a move to pursue a different career. Photography is my side hustle, I need a creative outlet, and photographing our beautiful Arizona landscape, and all the critters I can catch gives me so much joy. I recently opened an Etsy shop, Prickly Pixels, where I share my desert photos so crafty DIY decorators (and decorators on a budget!) can download them and use them for Home Decor. I currently live in Phoenix with my husband and our two fur babies – who are also a major subject of my lens. 🙂

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I’ve always been interested in photography, and as a Phoenix native, I’ve always had a deep love for the desert. I recently started taking photos again after a long break, and I decided to start an Etsy shop of digital downloads and a few select prints. I also occasionally shoot things that catch my eye that are non-desert related, but my main focus is sharing my love for the desert through my lens!

How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Success to me is when an image evokes emotion – I want people to see an image and be reminded of a special time or a fond memory. The desert is such a gorgeous place, and it gives me all the feels so it would be a great success as an artist to share that with the viewer.
