Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Garrett.
Nate, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’ve been playing music since I was three years old, recording since I was fifteen, and touring since I was nineteen. I started Spirit Adrift in 2015 and joined Gatecreeper shortly thereafter. Both bands are signed to prominent metal labels and tour extensively.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I make music with Spirit Adrift. It began as my solo project but is now a full-fledged band. The message I strive to convey with Spirit Adrift’s music is to persevere through adversity and find strength in the suffering that life can deal out to all of us. I’ve been through a lot in my life, and I’ve finally reached a place where I understand that the pain I’ve experienced isn’t a negative thing. It’s helped shape me into a stronger person and has given me an endless well of inspiration. Spirit Adrift is a necessary cathartic release and a constructive way to channel negative forces in my life, and hopefully, it inspires people to find the strength to overcome the adversity in their own lives.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Success is creating something that is honest and pure. Success to me is making a song or album that I love and that I know I put every ounce of my being into creating.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
Come see the band live, listen to us on your preferred streaming service, buy physical copies of our music, buy merchandise directly from us, and most importantly spread the word about the band to anyone you think might like it. All information about the band can be found at spiritadrift.com.
