Today we’d like to introduce you to Malaya Prado.
Malaya, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Ever since I could remember, my interests always involved art and expressing everything I knew visually. I grew up watching my grandmother and my mother share their artistic abilities in different ways. The creative mindset runs in the family and I believe it’s always been in me. One thing that influenced me the most, is my mother’s abstract water color paintings. At such a young age, it was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen and I still have the paintings till this day. Although, I did not pick up water coloring, the influence from my mother’s work inspired me to self-teach myself how to draw and paint with acrylics.
These days, I have been focusing a lot on painting and learning different techniques with acrylics. I’m also very fortunate to be able to continue learning more about the arts by taking some studio classes at Arizona State University while I complete my major in Biology.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I started off drawing with different kinds of mediums, however, the past few years I have grown a passion for painting. After high school, I’ve faced some obstacles in life that were hard to deal with at the time and painting became my outlet. I fell in love with the freedom and the action of painting so much, that I was able to paint heartbreaks, tragedies, love, beliefs, etc. I have a meaning and connection with every piece of art I’ve created, and although my audience may not know exactly what it is, it’s more than enough to have supporters who appreciate my work.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
As an artist, I believe success is following your passion and always persevering towards your goal. It’s important to never give up and to keep working hard.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
