Art & Life with Kami Stratton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kami Stratton.

Kami, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
After years of really being interested in photography, my husband finally got me what I like to call a “big girl camera,” and I started taking pictures for free. After dabbling in it for a few years, I finally took some courses and fell in love with newborn photography. At the time we were struggling with infertility, and for some reason, I just loved being able to hold swaddle and pose these sweet little newborn babies. There must have been some healing in it for me all while longing for my own baby. But a last we had two beautiful kids through Invetro fertilization (IVF) and my little business (and family) has grown right before my eyes over the past six years.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I specialize in Newborn Kid and Family Photography here in the Mesa/Phoenix area. I love capturing all the littles and their true personalities!! Really my love for photography and babies kinda grew together and has created this unconditional joy for me as a person and as an artist.

What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
I think it has evolved tremendously! And with social media inspiration is right at our fingertips!
My personal “pull” lately has been focused on the IVF or infertility community. I have a personal story, and battle with Fertility and the community has become near and dear to my heart.
