Art & Life with Jared Booth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Booth.

Jared, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I grew up in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA, but have spent the last seven plus years of my 24 here in the Phoenix Area. Ever since I was just a little guy, I enjoyed working with my hands. I used to build model cars and little robot things. Along with building, my biggest interests growing up were always drawing and sports. As I got into high school and sports outgrew me, the more I got into my art. It was a really solid outlet for me especially having to move from a small-town school of 300 kids, to a school in Gilbert, AZ with my graduating class nearly exceeding that number. Drawing has always been a way of self-expression for me, and that’s why I was so drawn into the world of tattoos.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I try to involve myself in a few different mediums of art, but I make my living creating Tattoos. Nature is one of my biggest inspirations. I love the outdoors and everything that comes with it. All species of animals, flowers, trees, etc. Hell, even the smell of being in the forest just calms me. I spend a lot of time focusing in on an illustrative art style, sometimes with some weirdness added! Along with having a certain style of art, I prefer to work with color as it just adds another dimension to design for me. Although, I will work with black and grey as well. My artwork can give off a little bit of a realistic vibe, but it is exaggerated and characterized.

When I design for a tattoo, I will hand build your design from the ground up; rather than taking an exact image of something. I think about the environment that image should live in. Your tattoo should look like everything was meant to be there, and not just casually thrown on or forced in. Composition is becoming one the most important aspects of my work because I strive to create tattoos that will fit your body and your body’s curves specifically to the best of my ability. I believe that a tattoo that flows with your body just comes off a little more appealing.

I care about my clients and giving them the best experience that they deserve.

Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
The art community is growing large, which is great. The best thing about it is that most artists will support one another. However, with how much art is up and coming in today’s world, it can be hard to stand out as an individual. Having social media helps with that tremendously. Generally, the internet is today’s artist’s gift from above. Whether it’s just promoting or even selling works online.

What you guys are doing is a good way to help get us some exposure. Some people don’t give artists their deserved credit. With interviewing an artist or asking anyone question, you will get to know the passion and hard work people put into what they can create. We make sacrifices to do what we do. I think if more people knew that, it’d be more respected by the general population.

A couple of years ago or so, I seen Mesa, AZ had an art contest. You sent them to design and the winner’s artwork would be recreated on some utility boxes throughout the city. Any contest, mural, anything with a chance for exposure is helpful for an artist.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
As of right now, I am only on Facebook and Instagram. Direct link to my Facebook would be www.facebook.com/boothtattoo. However, I’m typically more active on Instagram @jaredboothtattoos. I am currently looking into creating a website, so stay on the lookout for that!

Anyone can show support by… you know…. getting a tattoo from me! But, some other great ways to show your support can be by just simply following, liking, commenting, sharing any artwork that I post on Social Media. You can write reviews online. I also have prints of drawings/paintings for sale, as well the occasional original. Stickers are also available for anyone who wants to keep some themselves and share with friends. Any sign of support is greatly appreciated and doesn’t go unrecognized!
