Art & Life with Ignacio Martinez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ignacio Martinez.

Ignacio, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I am a self-taught artist from Phoenix, Arizona who specializes in creating art out of recycle materials. Coming from a lower-class home I was always taught to make the best of what I had. That taught me to always be creative and think outside the box.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My art reflects who I am and how I grew up. Always being able to make something out of nothing is a skill that has made me distinctive and is something I apply to my art every day. I take ordinary items and turn them into unique masterpieces. I’ve created artwork using paper money, coins, recycled soda cans, Gatorade bottles, glitter and even candy. I’m always looking for new, crazy, and fun ways to create. My whole life I’ve taken nothing and made it something, a motto I plan to live and create by.

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
I would say making a living being an artist has been the biggest challenge for me finding collectors willing to pay for my pieces

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I’ll be showcasing at the Phoenix center for arts in November but You can also check out my art on Instagram @i.m_art_ and Facebook under Ignacio Martinez website coming soon.
