Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle White.
Danielle, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
For as long as I can remember I have loved all aspects of art. I took as many art classes as I could during my high school years. After high school, I went to a community college where I studied Liberal Arts with a sequence in Studio Art. I didn’t complete college, and the rest of my learning has been self-taught. I have participated in community projects such as Mural Fest 2015 to help make our city a brighter and more beautiful place.
Currently, I teach step by step acrylic painting classes at a local art studio called UnCorked Creations. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is watching others find their inner artist and how their paintings reflect their personalities which has inspired my most recent project to create an online business geared towards creativity coaching and connecting with yourself through your art. In the next few years, my husband and I plan to travel with our 2 kids across the country in an RV to explore and experience the beauties that are all around us. I plan to document our travels through painting at each place that we stop at. It’s going to be an inspiring journey for us all.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I have always love to create because of the meditative state that creating (especially painting) takes me to. I stumbled onto my new favorite painting technique of painting with a pallet knife when I was in my attic studio all ready to paint and realized that all of my brushes were downstairs. The problem was that my 2 kids had just fallen asleep, and out of fear of waking them up, I grabbed my pallet knife and started to paint. Turns out that I love the texture and the energy that comes through the knife, so I’ve been painting with it ever since! I don’t typically plan out what I’m going to paint I usually start out by mixing colors and applying it on the canvas in all different places while turning the canvas. After the painting is finished, I will usually reflect on what the painting is trying to tell me. There is usually some guidance/advice that comes forward. I create to share love, to learn, and to keep myself centered and connected with the Universe.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Even if you don’t know what to create, just start doing something. I love the quote, “create something every day, even if it sucks”.
