Art & Life with Dani Rossi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dani Rossi.

Dani, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Believe it or not, I started out with a deep love of the theater, music, and singing! I was accepted into a school for musical theater in New York, but the funds for this adventure fell through, and so did the idea of ever doing something I loved because my first my dreams had seemingly been smashed. I had to decide on something else I was passionate about, and fitness was something I had loved learning and implementing in my own life after high school!

With Fitness came a challenging time where I had to satisfy my HUGE sweet tooth with healthy options, and I developed a love for baking healthy dessert options! Then as time went on, I started offering to bake cakes and sweets for friends and family. I learned and perfected the elusive French macaron while I was pregnant with my daughter back in 2014 and decided that I really loved conquering these baking challenges and baking things that intimidated me.

As the requests from friends and family kept growing and I kept creating things that I had never done before, I discovered that the creativity I had once had for music and singing came flooding in! I started offering “flavor-of-the-weekend” macarons, and people LOVED IT! I started getting more and more requests, and it extended past friends and family, and that’s when I decided to make this a full-time gig and create a business I’m so proud of!

When people who had their dream careers would say, “I just fell into it” I never quite understood what that meant, as I have put so much time into other passions that never flourished! I now understand that saying! I just fell into it! I fell into doing something I never thought would be a dream career of mine! The people who loved my cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and macarons are the ones who helped me realize it!

All of my business has been word of mouth, I do not advertise, and I think that kind of organic flow of business helps people see that I’m flourishing because of them! So I have to say THANK YOU! Thank you for reigniting that creative flame and for helping me realize a dream I didn’t know I had!

Can you give our readers some background on your work? What else should we know?
I make not only pretty cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and macarons but all my treats are DELISH! This has become a full-time job for me (besides being a wife and mama), and it’s my creative outlet as well!

My message is this: allow yourself to experience new things you didn’t plan for yourself or your life because you can “fall into” the career of your dreams. My inspiration comes from many things and varies from project to project, I love all things beautiful and some things abstract. What you should know about my art, my sweets, are that they are made with love and they take time… but are worth every penny and every minute.

Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities, and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?

Making money was never the goal, I first started because I loved being a part of my friends and families events, seeing my creations that THEY were proud to display and watching the joy wash over their faces once they tried them…

Money wasn’t my goal, and it still isn’t, but you help support my dream and my family, and for that, I’m extremely grateful. Do what you love, allow for growth, and seize opportunities. I always joke that I never get what I plan for my life, which is true- I get God’s better plan for my life.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
You can find me and my work on Facebook as well as on Instagram supporting me can be as little as a like on my page, or a follow on my Instagram and even an encouraging, kind word.

If you live in the east valley, San tan valley, queen creek Mesa and Gilbert I encourage you to support small businesses and not just go to big corporations for cakes! A- they aren’t amazing, B- we as small business owners help support our families and C- I think we make some delicious treats!
