Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Warren.
Chase, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
In order to pass the time during the cold and dark winter months in Alaska, I was constantly bouncing from one creative stimulus to the next. I dabbled in music production, sports, and various other outlets but hadn’t found anything that completely consumed my time until I discovered visual Arts. During the summer of 2016, my friend Hayden got me into photography, and I purchased my first DSLR camera. From that point on I’ve taken my camera with me everywhere from hippie festivals to bush pilot glacier landings, capturing each moment along the way.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
At my best, I use photography to capture raw moments of emotion that hopefully will either resonate with the viewer or better yet, show them something they have never seen before. Whether it’s a group of adventurers traversing an Alaskan glacier, a musician singing their heart out, or a couple dancing in the streets of Albania, I hope to offer some perspective that incredible moments are happening all around us all the time and we should participate in them.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
When I first started pursuing photography, I wish I would have had a clearer understanding of the power of reaching out. I guess I expected new and exciting opportunities to fall into my lap as the word of my business spread through the countryside on its own… However, that was not the case. But as time went on, I started reaching out to local businesses, groups and event managers through email. At first, I usually would get rejected, or flat-out wouldn’t get a response back, but after a while of constantly sending out a couple of emails a day, opportunities started coming my way. If you’re a photographer and you want to shoot a band that’s coming to your home town, email the venue or the bands manager. If you want to hang your paintings at a coffee shop, send them an email with a link to some photos of your art. The way I see it is this; no matter what kind of artist you are, there are people out there who will want to support you and reaching out to as many people as you can, won’t hurt your chances of finding them.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
