Art & Life with Brandie Wolfe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandie Wolfe.

Brandie, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I always had a passion for photography, I loved the romance behind capturing a moment, emotion and a memory essentially forever. I started photography in high school I had an amazing arts teacher and he really inspired me to push myself. After High school I married my sweetheart, and started medical school but I was always drawn to photography. I felt I didn’t have time to fully commit to it. My husband and I decided we wanted to expand our little family and began trying for a baby. I am a type one diabetic since 1995 and had had trouble becoming pregnant. We adopted a little girl in July 2015 and I became a stay at home mom, having a little one around really sparked my interest in wanting to capture milestones in our lives. That’s when I decided to pursue my passion harder. I “relearned “how to use my camera that Jacob, my husband, had bought me for Christmas, I was taking in regular clients for the next few year and then discovered I was pregnant with a baby girl. We were ecstatic! Since the baby was born I have been photographing more and more while enjoying and frequently capturing my girls, there milestones and daily life. I am grateful for my artistic skills and am always wanting to learn and improve.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I love art that invokes a feeling, a moment or a memory and that is exactly what I strive to capture. Photography is beautiful in the fact that once you capture an image it becomes permanent in a way. A photo can bring back all the emotions felt in that moment and to me that is powerful. Whether it be a moment with a loved one that has passed, a feeling of joy while celebrating a milestone or the smell of your newborn baby there is something special about being able to relive it through photography. I try to create art that is natural without being overly posed or forced because I think those are the most precious type of image.

Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
My greatest piece of advice is to invest time rather than expensive equipment initially. You don’t need the newest top of the line camera and computer to create gorgeous work. If you know how to use what you have and you use it passionately and are always willing to learn and grown people will come and support you.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I have recently started using social media through Facebook and Instagram to showcase my work. I also have a gallery page to showcase more in depth each session I take. I really appreciate all the support and love shown by all my followers online and in person But of course the best way to support my work is by booking a session with me and being able to experience my work firsthand.
