Today we’d like to introduce you to Ange McNeese.

Ange Jumawan McNeese (Curio Art) graduated with Bachelor’s Degrees in both Painting and Ceramics from Arizona State University in 2018. She is currently in a post-bacc program at Northern Arizona University.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
McNeese paints lyrical, abstract and surreal scenes. Most of her work is derived from dreams, literature and songs and carries heavy emotive visuals relative to what they are inspired by. Bringing out the magic and beauty in the ordinary and relating to the strange are reoccurring themes in all her work of any medium and is an important connection to why she makes art. She aims to gain a Master’s Degree and ultimately teach painting.

Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
It will be rough but oh my god is it worth it.
