Art & Life with Analise Porter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Analise Porter.

Analise, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
So I was actually living in Utah when I started my photography/videography journey. I had an opportunity to do an internship with another photographer/videographer, tell the birds (she’s amazing!). I signed up for the internship not thinking much would ever come out of it, but she accepted, so I bought my first camera and lens and started out learning a little bit from her! After that, I went on my own and continued to learn as much as I could from any source I could because I LOVED it. Then shortly after that, we moved back to AZ, and I’ve been continuing here and hope to continue doing photo and video for a very long time.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I do a variety of things from seniors to company products, but the two main things I do are weddings (photo and video) and births (mostly video). I think my desire to do those two stemmed from the fact that I didn’t get a wedding or birth video myself. So I wanted to make sure that others didn’t have the same regrets that I did and that I could be there to make sure that their wedding or birth story was captured as I wish mine would have been.

I feel like the two biggest days of your life are when you get married and when you become a parent. Both days are so full of stress that most people often forget to slow down and enjoy the moment, that’s where I love to come in. I love that I get to be the one to capture all of those special moments, from the smallest of details to the main event, I get to capture it all!

I also love photography and videography for different reasons. Photography captures every moment in a still picture that you can print, freeze time, and hang on your wall to look at every day, they are so special. Videography though is where all of the raw and real emotion is truly captured. I feel like video is the best way to really remember your special day, whether it be a wedding, a birth, or anything in between. I just really love what I do and I think that most of my inspiration comes from putting myself in their shoes, making sure that if it was my wedding or birth story, that it’s captured in a way that I would want for myself and making sure it’s something that my clients will cherish forever.

What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
The Role of an Artist can be very stressful because people hire you to make sure that you are capturing their special day. With both weddings and births, it’s not really something that you can go back and “retake” if you missed the moment, it’s a once in a lifetime thing, and the role of the artist is to be sure to capture that moment. It’s a very stressful, yet the most rewarding job to have.
