Art & Life with Ali Tso

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Tso.

Ali, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Sure! The first time I discovered photography was in a sixth-grade photography class. I had fun with it, but I didn’t put too much thought into it at the time. To be honest, photography has become a somewhat new passion of mine! I did gymnastics for most of my life and eventually received a gymnastics scholarship to Seattle Pacific University, where I studied psychology. The life of a student-athlete is pretty intense, and I stayed focused on training and my studies. It wasn’t until I graduated from college when a friend of mine actually gave me my first DSLR camera. I practiced all sorts of photography and really grew to love portrait photography.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Once I retired from my gymnastics career, I was searching for a creative outlet. I explored different sports and hobbies but I was craving the creativity, and artistic expression gymnastics offered me through its dance and choreography. I also love people. So I really poured myself into my photography, capturing my friends and their beauty in my photos. I’m easily inspired by joyful moments, and I love capturing bright and vibrant photos full of life and color. I hope that people are drawn to my art because of its rich color and personality, and I aim to make their experience fun and easy!

Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Many of us hear it all the time: “Just do what you love.” Take your time exploring, finding your style, and what moves you. The best thing about art is that there is no right or wrong way of doing it, so there is a lot of creative freedom that comes with doing that. This is your life so why not make the most of your time to enjoy it! Be bold, curious, and have fun with what you create.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
