Annie Dulin of Scottsdale area on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Annie Dulin shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Annie, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What battle are you avoiding?
I will answer this on a more personal level. The battle I’m consciously avoiding is trying to prove my worth to those who don’t naturally recognize it. With time, I’ve learned that my energy is better spent growing, creating, and connecting with people who genuinely align with my values and vision.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Annie, and I come from a background that beautifully bridges art, health, and beauty. From a young age, I’ve had a deep passion for art and creative expression, which has continued to shape every part of my life, from painting and design to my love for music.

After spending over a decade working as a patient care coordinator in the cosmetic/plastic industry, I gained a deep understanding of how artistry and compassion come together to help people feel more confident in their own skin. That experience inspired me to take a new path several years ago and launch my own journey into permanent makeup, where I could combine my artistic eye with my care for others in a truly hands-on way.

What makes my work unique is that it’s not just about enhancing appearances but also about restoring confidence, embracing individuality, and creating timeless, natural beauty that reflects who each person truly is. I see every face as a canvas and every client as a story, and it’s an honor to bring that story to life through my art.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
This is a deep question and I guess I will answer it in a more personal level rather than a business point, even though they could be applied in both. I think what often breaks the bond between people is a loss of trust. Once trust is broken, it changes how we see and feel about each other. But I also believe that forgiveness is what can restore those bonds. Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting, it means allowing space for understanding and healing, which is where connection can grow again.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that’s held me back the most has been worrying about what people will think. Whether it’s putting myself out there to grow my business, posting on social media, or just showing the real and unfiltered parts of my journey, that fear of judgment can be paralyzing. But I’ve learned that staying small to avoid criticism only limits your growth. The truth is, people connect to authenticity, not perfection. Letting go of that fear has been one of the most freeing and rewarding parts of my journey.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends would probably say that I’m driven by passion, whether it’s through my art, helping others feel more confident, or giving my time and heart to animals in need. They know that connection matters most to me, both with people and with the ones who can’t always speak for themselves, and that I truly value spending quality time with loved ones.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’ve always tried to follow what truly calls me rather than what I’m told to do. Art and helping others have always been at the center of my purpose, and even when life has led me in different directions, I’ve found ways to weave creativity and compassion into everything I do. I think that’s what staying true to yourself really means — letting your passions guide you, no matter the path.
