Ann Albers shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Ann, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
As the saying goes, not all who wander are lost! What might look like wandering to some is, for me, walking an inspired path of the heart. I don’t have a long-term plan for my life or career. When desires arise, I shine the light of love and intention on them, let go, live my days happily, and trust the universe to “fill my order!”
Of course I have deadlines and client schedules, but I also have a gazillion projects that sound fun, and as I complete one, I simply choose the next that calls to my heart. It doesn’t always make logical sense, but it consistently leads to a life joyfully lived, with my needs fulfilled by a loving universe, and my passion for contribution alive and thriving.
This seemingly wandering path is really my version of walking a path that makes total sense to the heart and to the elegant, benevolent universe.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Ann Albers. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and worked in the avionics industry on flight systems for eight years. I was moving up the corporate ladder, being offered stock options and promotions, but I didn’t love it. I didn’t like calling people in on weekends and disrupting their family lives. So I prayed, “I want to wake up happy, go to bed grateful, and make a living doing something I love.”
That prayer sparked a series of dreams and coincidences that led me down a spiritual path. I met teachers who guided me to become a channel, learn energy healing, and awaken memories of shamanic lives. I faced my own inner fears and insecurities head-on, and emerged with new passion and purpose. When the angelic voices told me it was time to turn in my resignation, I quit my engineering career on faith and began a new life. I’ve never looked back!
Today, I talk to angels and those in spirit, guide clients through life transitions, support them in owning their spiritual gifts, teach classes, write books, create coloring books, run two Etsy shops, channel healing energy, garden, hike, cook, and follow whatever else inspires me in the moment.
Perhaps my signature work is a free weekly newsletter, Messages from Ann & the Angels, which has gone out every Saturday morning for the last 24 years. In it, I share a channeled message from the angels, along with one from me about how I put their concepts into practice in my own life. I include tips, techniques, and often a recipe—because everything goes better with good food!
Ultimately, I help people trust their inner compass and their own guidance. I help them learn to love and accept themselves. With the angels, I teach vibrational living—how to attune our energy to align with spirit so life flows more easily. My goal is to live as an example that we are energetic beings, constantly tuning, attracting, and creating our reality—ever-evolving into greater love.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I was sitting in my room, feeling sorry for myself. I had recently quit engineering to do intuitive work, and my family was deeply concerned. My father wondered how I would make a living, and my mom was worried about my soul. I was having a full-on pity party. Having grown up Catholic, I called on Jesus: “How do I make them understand me?” Sob. Sob.
He appeared before me in a glorious vision, looking at me with great compassion. With love and tenderness, He said simply, “Stop it.” I stopped sobbing instantly and waited for more.
Then He continued: “Stop trying to get them to understand you. They will understand your love.”
That was it. The vision faded, but my life was forever changed. I gave up the need to be understood. I gave up the need for others to “get” me, to agree with me, or to change—myself included. Being a loving soul became my one and only true priority.
Over time, my family did understand my love, and our relationships have blossomed into a thing of beauty. I now have friends of many different persuasions. I respect all paths, even those who don’t respect mine. It was the single best piece of advice I have ever received, and it completely redefined the way I interact with others as I move through life.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
It isn’t in my makeup to give up—no matter how much I may have wanted to at times. But yes, there were moments when I wanted to say, “Screw it, you do it,” especially when people I had gone above and beyond to help turned around and became unthinkably cruel because I couldn’t give them everything they wanted.
Those episodes, though painful, taught me something priceless. I will always love and care deeply for all souls, but I no longer give attention, energy, or response to unkind behavior of any sort. I don’t defend, justify, or explain myself to those who can’t approach with kindness—and that has freed me in so many ways.
Now, I bless the ones who cursed me, because they pushed me to stop wasting my energy on such antics. I actually feel compassion for the hateful now, recognizing that they’re trapped in a painful prison of their own making.
So while the going got hard at times, I kept going—knowing that love was present, whether I felt it or not, and determined to persevere until I no longer wobbled from my own soul space in response to the behaviors of others. Once you taste the sweetness of your own connection with spirit, you can’t give up. It becomes a compass, always guiding you back to your true essence.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
We are waves upon an ocean of consciousness—so vast, infinite, and loving that it is nearly impossible to comprehend. We are loved without condition. We are energy itself, moving into form, calling love into new expressions.
This life is not a test to be passed, a school to graduate from, or a hell in which we were cast. It is a projection of our greater self, a canvas where we can explore, choose, relate, and create love in countless ways.
Our solidity is a beautiful experience, but our deeper reality is that we are part of a field of ever-expanding, ever-evolving love and energy.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
She loved life. She loved people. She brought love, light, sunshine, and laughter wherever she went. She helped us remember how unlimited we are, and how deeply loved we’ve always been.
She helped us remember that our spirit is limitless, and love is our truth.
