We’re looking forward to introducing you to Andy Kvesic. Check out our conversation below.
Andy, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Absolutely. I’d hire myself for the same reason I hire anyone on my team — I value people who have a mix of street smarts, professional grit, and the ability to see around corners. I have spent my career operating at the intersection of law and business, so I’ve learned that technical skill alone doesn’t cut it. You need judgment, intuition, and the courage to act when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. I look for advisors who can assess risk honestly but are also fearless enough to move forward when conviction is strong. Great leaders aren’t defined by how well they avoid failure… they’re defined by how they handle it, learn from it, and keep moving. If you’re willing to take smart risks, learn fast, and bet on your instincts, you’d fit on my team.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Andy Kvesic, CEO of Aprio Legal — a full-service ABS law firm headquartered in Scottsdale, where we are redefining what legal services can look like inside a modern professional services firm. My journey has always been about building something that’s both entrepreneurial and deeply client-focused—whether that’s launching new service lines, integrating legal with tax, accounting, advisory, and wealth management, or helping clients navigate complex business challenges with clarity and confidence.
What makes Aprio Legal unique is our ability to deliver legal solutions that are seamlessly connected to broader business strategy. We are not just lawyers… we are business partners. That’s what drew me to this team and what continues to inspire me every day.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding our impact for clients, deepening our bench of talent, and continuing to transform how legal services are delivered. I’m proud of the team we have built and the culture we’re cultivating, based on Aprio’s 31 Fundamentals, one that values collaboration, transparency, and bold thinking.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Without question, my relationship with my kids. Being a parent reframes everything. It forces you to look beyond immediate wins and think about the type of energy and example you’re putting into the world. My kids have taught me patience, empathy, and humility in a way that no professional experience ever could.
As a CEO, that perspective changes how I lead. You realize that leadership isn’t about control or perfection; it’s about helping others grow and feel safe enough to take risks themselves. I want my kids to see that success isn’t about titles or money, it’s about contribution and integrity.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You don’t have to be perfect to succeed, and the sooner you accept that, the faster you’ll grow. Early in my career, I chased perfection because I thought that’s what leadership looked like. Over time, I learned that progress beats perfection every single time.
If I could go back, I’d tell myself to lean into failure, to see every misstep as data, and to treat every challenge as a chance to evolve. Having a growth mindset has been the single biggest driver of my success. Perfection closes you off to possibility; curiosity opens every door.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Too many smart people mistake intelligence for wisdom. Being great at one thing doesn’t mean you are great at everything. Lawyers are some of the smartest people you’ll ever meet, but intelligence without experience can create blind spots. The smartest people I know are the ones humble enough to admit what they don’t know and curious enough to keep learning from those who do.
Many attorneys give business advice without ever having run a business themselves. That disconnect shows. At Aprio Legal, we’ve built something different—an Alternative Business Structure (ABS) law firm backed by Aprio’s business advisory and accounting solutions, operating with the same entrepreneurial mindset as our clients. We understand risk because we live it. We make business decisions every day. That experience gives us an entirely different perspective on what clients truly need from their legal and business advisors.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, 100%. I’m my own biggest critic. I don’t do things for praise, and in fact, public recognition often makes me uncomfortable. My focus is always on challenging myself, pushing my own limits, and trying to exceed my own expectations. And honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever fully reached that, which is exactly what drives me to keep improving every day!
