We recently had the chance to connect with Trisha Gardner and have shared our conversation below.
Trisha, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My husband, two daughters, and our giant Bernese Mountain dog bring constant joy to my daily life. We have had a great summer of adventures together, traveling, playing games, swimming, and laughing. They are my daily source of happiness and inspiration.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My business partner, Audra Canfield and I have two companies, Designer Fluff and EdgeQuarters. Both are routed in a passion for design.
Designer Fluff has been working with interior designers across the US for over 13 years. We make handcrafted COM throw pillows, shams, and bench cushions for the trade with lead times as fast 7 as business days. Designer Fluff is here to ensure this important design detail gets the attention it deserves, while making the process easier for designers every day. The fabrics designers choose for pillows pull every project together, providing the perfect finishing touch and customization that make every room look complete.
EdgeQuarters has been designing commercial spaces across the US for over 10 years. We are passionate about helping our clients create offices that speak to the story of their brands and make both their employees and customers happy to be in the office.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My dad and my brother, Rick, both continue to influence my work. My dad showed me that dedication and hard work could create endless opportunities. His career enabled us all to have a vastly different life than he had. He always chose risk over fear, which I have realized most people cannot do. Rick showed me the power of entrepreneurship early on in my college career, which led me to major in entrepreneurship and go on to start multiple businesses. He is always there to lend support to this day.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Being different isn’t just okay; it’s where your true strengths live.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
1. Do the best you can with what you have been given.
2. Live life fully with no regrets.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’ve never been great at just doing what I’m told. I’ve always followed what I truly desire—and being your authentic self always leads to the best outcomes.
