Lisa, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Lately, I’ve become more confident in speaking my truth. While we’re often taught to gather information from the outside world, that’s never come naturally to me. I’ve always trusted my soul—my intuition—because when we connect to that, we connect to something much greater than ourselves.

This inner guidance is what leads my life. Yet I often feel that the world discredits this way of knowing, because we’re conditioned to rely solely on logic. But when we do that, we dismiss one of our most powerful tools—our inner technology—a key to expanding our consciousness.

I’ve noticed that many people place their trust in external systems and structures to form their beliefs. But I often wonder: were those systems created in service to others, or were they designed to serve themselves?

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Lisa Garrett! I grew up in beautiful Colorado and have moved around quite a bit in my life—even spending time living on the island of Saipan, near Guam in the Mariana Islands. I now call Sedona, Arizona home, where I run and operate several photography companies.

My main focus is Lisa Garrett Photography, which specializes in outdoor portrait photography in Sedona. I love editing portraits because it allows more creativity to shine through.

While I enjoy shooting weddings and newborns, outdoor portrait sessions are currently my main focus. I also shoot headshots regularly and enjoy the balance between creativity and professionalism they offer.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Choosing to forgive, love unconditionally, and release judgment—doing the best I can each day.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
It’s not so much about giving up—it’s more about accepting the reality that, as we age, our energy naturally shifts. The body slows down in ways we don’t always expect. I’ve had to scale back on physically demanding hiking shoots and reduce the editing load in some of my packages. I’ve also begun limiting the number of long, 10-hour wedding days I take on. My body simply needs more rest and recovery now than it did in my 20s, and I’m learning to honor that with grace and balance.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
In the end, love is all that truly matters.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I’ve never understood why people judge others or try to tell them how to think or feel. If everyone thought and felt the same way, the world would be a very boring place. It’s our differences that make the world unique and give our souls the chance to grow through new and varied experiences.
