Hi Kami, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What battle are you avoiding?
I have a bunch of autoimmune issues. Sometimes it makes it hard to get to the shop and open. So, when someone asks what’s the hardest part of being a business owner…It’s being sick and feeling like you’re letting people down when you can open the store.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kami Pringle and my husband, and I own The Candle Company. We make our candles out of our house and then we have a store in Old Town Scottsdale where we sell them. We got into this business because of my autoimmune issues and a disease called mast cell activation syndrome. With that we found a company who makes our oils tailored to my sensitivities to perfume. After months of research, we found paraffin and bees wax are the only two candle waxes that don’t have allergens, taking those two and perfecting the perfect wax blend for our clean and natural candles.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My Husband

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. There has many of times I have cried thinking I can’t do this. Whether it being my health issues and not physically being able to make it in to run our store or the scary nature of where our economy sits. But I truly believe in the product my husband and I have created.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
My Husband. I run to him for everything.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
Fostering animals in need brings me inner peace.
