Hod, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
Balancing work and life outside of work

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I have been a beat writer for Arizona State sports for the last 26 years. I started at a time where online media outlets were frowned upon as being unprofessional, etc. and may of the other beat writers were not too welcoming. But to Arizona State and their Media Relations department’s credit they welcomed me with open arms and judged me by the merit f my work and not the media outlet I worked for. It has been very interesting to see the evolution of online media outlets since I started in this business. Definitely a bag of mixed goods, but you have to stay true to the quality of work you produce.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment you realize that you have to stick to facts and leave emotion out of your content. Being reasonable may not always draw the most attention, but it still draws the right attention.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Can’t say I did. I really enjoy what I do. Met a lot of incredible people along the way. Some of these connections are decades old.

Being honest, loyal and reasonable.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I could retire and enjoy life, I wouldn’t think twice about it.
