An Inspired Chat with Dr. Saru Bala of Scottsdale

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dr. Saru Bala. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Saru, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Watching my daughter grow up.

Becoming a parent has brought more joy into my life than I ever thought possible. I never really pictured myself in this role—I wasn’t sure how I’d show up as a mom, or if I’d even feel natural in it, or if it was something I was doing because I wanted to or because I felt like I “had” to. But as cliché as it sounds, it has been the most unexpected, grounding, and heart-expanding joy of my life.

It honestly feels like the world was in sepia before her… and now everything—even the mundane moments—is full of color.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Dr. Saru Bala. I’m an integrative doctor who helps women finally make sense of their hormones, periods, and the symptoms they’ve been told to ignore or just “deal with.”

But more than that, I’m someone who knows what it’s like to feel dismissed, confused, and disconnected from your own body. I started this work not just because of what I learned in medical school, but because of what I experienced in my own health journey: fatigue, painful & heavy cycles, and being told over and over again that everything was “fine,” even when it clearly wasn’t.

My brand was born out of that frustration—and from a deep-seated belief that women deserve better. Better answers. Better care. Better tools and education to understand what’s happening in their body and why. I’ve now supported thousands of women around the world in reconnecting (or sometimes connecting for the first time) with their bodies and finally feeling like themselves again.

What makes this work special is that it’s not just about treating symptoms; it’s about helping women feel seen, informed, and in control of their bodies and health. We work with science, but we also work with compassion. And we always ask the deeper questions: What is your body trying to say? What does it need to feel safe?

Right now, I’m working on expanding our online programs to reach even more women who are tired of quick fixes and ready for real, lasting change. Because you’re not crazy for struggling with your cycle, and healing doesn’t have to be a mystery or a 6-month wait every time you want to get answers.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship with my body after becoming a mother.

Before that, I saw my body as functional—it did what I asked of it, and that was about it. I never felt like it was sacred or special in the way people often talk about.

But pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding changed everything. For the first time, I truly witnessed what my body was capable of. It created an entire life that didn’t require me to micromanage it. It knew exactly what to do.

That experience reshaped me—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. It gave me a more profound reverence for the marks I once resented. Every stretch mark, every scar, every shift told a story: of life, of transformation, of becoming.

It changed how I saw myself—and how I see every woman and mother I work with. There’s so much power in a body that creates, carries, and cares. And now, I can never unsee it. As cheesy as that sounds, it’s been so powerful to see other people in that way.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You will find what lights you up—and when you do, you’ll become the most incredible version of yourself.

Don’t waste your energy worrying about what everyone else is doing or what you should be doing. That noise doesn’t matter. What matters is following what fills you up—the work, the people, the path that makes you feel alive.

When do you find that feeling, it’s the thing you can do forever without burning out. That’s the thing the world actually needs you to be doing.

Trust that it’s coming. You’re not lost—you’re just getting closer.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That there’s one fix. One pill, one diet, one supplement, one perfect protocol that will solve everything.

But real health—especially hormonal health—is never black and white. Your period, your energy, your symptoms… they’re all a reflection of the small, daily choices you make and how aligned those choices are with the life you want to live.

There’s no magic bullet. No gadget, cleanse, or quick-fix trend that replaces actually listening to your body. The real work is understanding what your body is asking for and creating a life that honors that.

That’s what I focus on in my practice and programs: helping women reconnect with what they truly value and shift their habits, routines, and choices to reflect that. Because when your life supports your body—not just fights your symptoms—that’s when healing really begins.

Health isn’t a hack. It’s a relationship you have with your mind and your body.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
Oh god, yes. In the early days, I would wake up buzzing with ideas—excited to write a blog post, film a video, share a story, or explain a concept I knew women hadn’t been taught before. I was just so lit up by the idea of building something that finally made women feel seen, heard, and in control of their bodies.

That energy hasn’t left. I still feel it every time I get a DM or email from a woman who says, “You helped me understand myself,” or “I finally feel like I’m in control of my health again.” That feeling? It never gets old.

Helping women reconnect with their bodies has been the greatest gift I’ve ever given to others—and to myself. This work still excites me. It still feels special. And I still can’t believe I get to do it every day.
