An Inspired Chat with Doria Dphrepaulezz

Doria Dphrepaulezz shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Doria, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is the cornerstone of a meaningful life. I am madly in love with life – the good, the bad, the difficult and the amazing.

One of the greatest lessons I have learned is the importance of surrounding myself with people who are fully present, supportive, and genuinely invested in my well-being. I hold that standard both to them and myself. That is a non-negotiable fundamental rule of my life. True everlasting friendships are built on a foundation of mutual love and respect – they are living, evolving bonds.

I am a simple, and complicated soul: a mother, a painter, and a poet. First and foremost, I am a mom to a wonderful young man who brings me endless joy. Then, I am an artist and a poet, always seeking a deeper beauty and meaning in every single day.

Integrity is the cornerstone of a meaningful life. It means living with strong moral principles, honesty, and commitment to your values and beliefs. Love, faith and forgiveness are all wrapped up in integrity. I believe that intelligence and energy are closely knitted into the fabric of integrity. The value system of integrity is what gives you the freedom to be fully, authentically yourself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Abstract art is a language; it’s a lively conversation filled with twists and turns. Be present. Trust in the magic that rocks your soul and nurtures your mind. Be productive, be intentionally happy, and enjoy the journey of life. When today scares you, just take a deep breath and remember, you are not done yet.

When you don’t find a space where you fit, you must recreate the space to fit you. My life has been an incredible journey of amazing living. I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel and experience life in full color.

Writing and painting are a relentless pursuit to share emotions. Forgiving, forgetting, healing and understanding. But most important I try to encourage everyone to live life. Do not be a spectator. My art is born of resilience, shaped by gratitude and colored by the wild hues of a life fully lived. I believe that color is a language of emotion, a way to shift the air around us. Poetry is a soft whisper of truth. Together they are the beginning of a beautiful dialogue.

My creative process originates from my writing. I often write in Italian to establish a rhythm for my abstract ideas. Poetic thoughts transform into colors and textures.
Although my paintings and poetry come from unique life experiences, I think that they strike a universal chord which easily resonates with a large and diverse audience.

On the horizon for 2026…
Painting, writing, and creating never sleep! I am always painting, because that is what I do! And I am also working on two new books: a second collection of Haiku, and a third collection of Short Stories. Working hard and trying to get both books up on Amazon before Christmas!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
“Our life is what our thoughts make it .” (Marcus Aurelius)

I believe that trust is the most important element between two people. There are countless things that can strain or destroy a friendship, break a relationship, or even cause a family to descend into chaos. But broken trust is the one thing that can make me close a door, and maybe, never open it again. For me trust is scared. And while forgiveness can be a path to healing or restoring trust; it is neither easy nor guaranteed that the bond will be restored.

Maintaining meaningful relationships requires us to tap into our inner strengths – our personal superpowers. Mine are resilience, determination, and perseverance. They help me show up, stay present, and keep on trying especially when things are difficult. Sometimes it is a struggle to utilize my superpowers, but I never stop trying. If something can be broken, with time, intention, and effort it can usually be repaired.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Life is not easy, safe or simple. Choose friends that you can go to battle with. Choose a partner who believes in you soundly and profoundly, no excuses. My strength is always to remember, no matter the road to travel or the mountain to climb, I begin with; I believe it is my choice to stand or to journey through difficulty. I do not like to stand still. Let the storms come, I will always choose happiness. I will always choose to climb the mountain, because I know the sun will shine again.

Every moment in life is a chance, a possibility to realize greatness. We are all travelers weathering the thunderstorms of life, some broken and some mended. But we are all on this incredible journey. It is the unknown journey that fuels the desire to proceed forward and endure. There will always be moments of sadness when building a foundation of joy. The only way through is to create new pathways and keep on building.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
When all you have are lemons make Limoncello. My life is an extraordinary journey of complexities wrapped in simplicity. I do not give up. I do not surrender. I look forward and I stand on my faith. I dare to leap every day.

Love and faith have saved me more times than I can ever count. Every day I awaken with the belief the I will be courageous, and I will be brave, because life is a beautiful gift that deserves my best foot forward every second of every day.

Neither love nor faith have a color or taste. They have no physical evidence of existence, except I know them, and I believe. I know that I love. I know that I have faith. I build my life on love and faith every single day. So, they may be invisible, untouchable to the world, but I know.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
Peace, for me, is not the absence of conflict – it is the presence of wholeness, happiness and well-being wherever I am.

Peace comes from balance. I seek inner calm in both my personal life and my artistic life. Love, wholeness and well-being are threads that I weave through my work, my poetry, and my relationships. Life, love and faith – integrity, art, poetry – these are the pillars of my existence. When I have balance, I have peace.

One small road on a very long journey does not define a life. Almost six decades on this journey and I have come to understand this truth. I come from a hard and complicated family, the seventh of fourteen children. My life has been an adventure, never boring and always evolving. My journey is to be me every day, no apologies.

I believe art can shape mood and atmosphere and color is a powerful tool – uplifting, inspirational and transformative. Art and poetry enhance my life, my environment, and my outlook on each day.

I strive to embody a philosophy of resilience, gratitude, and continuous artistic creation. Life will always present challenges, but those challenges are catalysts for deeper, more authentic artistic expression. They are a path to transforming adversity into creative fuel.

Hopefully my legacy will be characterized by the deep interconnectedness of my visual art, written word, and personal my philosophy to always, above all else, be intentional and choose happiness.
